Hosting a Poker Game
For a lot of you out there, the extent of your poker experience will begin and end online. But for others of you, you may be wanting to go a little further, a possibly even host your own game.
And if you do, we’ll we’re going to tell you how. First, you’ll need to get out the ole checklist.
Cards? Check.
Poker Chips? Check.
Poker Table(s)? Check.
Drinks, food, snacks? Maybe Check.
Okay, so you have the essentials. Next, you’ll want to decide how you want to set up the game. The rules need to be made, so to speak. So you decide the following:
What kind of poker: stud, draw, Omaha, hold ‘em?
What kind of betting structure: limit or no limit? Antes?
Are you playing a tournament or a simple ring game?
How about payout: Winner takes all, top three, top five?
Player Seating: Note- this is only important if you’re looking to have several tables
Are you going to be condensing tables down when then reach a certain point, or will you play until you get a table winner?
Finally, you need to decide who deals and if you’re going to have a table dealer or not.
That’s pretty much the extent of it. I may seem like a complication with all of those questions, but really most of them can be answered in a few seconds. You real question will be how will you get people there to play?
Better get busy on that phone dialing numbers.
